This book is about a boy called Jamie, who moves into a new house called Cloverly, with hid dad and step mother Sue. At his previous house he lived on a farm, with his mother, but she passed away when she gave birth to Jamie. Jamie has many loved memories back at his farm, and he doesn’t want to leave, but he has to. As they move into the house, Jamie finds out that Sue is pregnant, and he is not looking forward to having a step brother or sister. Behind Jamie’s place lives a student that goes to University. His name is Simon, and Jamie thinks he is very annoying. In Jamie’s new bedroom, it’s always cold, he can hear strange sounds, and he thinks that there is a ghostly presence around, who is haunting Cloverly. An old lady called Marion who is 93 years old, lives next door. She knows all about this ghost, and Jamie thinks she does too. He desperately wants to talk to her but then he finds Ros. Ros knows Marion well. So Jamie and Ros become friends and work together on finding out more about this ghost, by talking to Marion. Jamie is able to connect with spirits and talk to ghosts. Marion is also able to do the same thing. Jamie and Ros soon find out that the ghost haunting Cloverly, is a young boy named Charlie, who once drowned in a river. Charlie was Marion’s first ever love. Marion has been communicating with his spirit, and now she wants Jamie to help her join Charlie after she passes away, as she is now at a very old age. By helping Marion, Jamie and Ros have to risk their lives at the same river that Charlie drowned in.

I think that this is a great book, as it uses descriptive language and is very detailed. This book had me captured right from the start, as it got straight into the main point of the story. In some parts it was really interesting, and I was desperate to find out what was next, although sometimes I would easily guess what was next. I didn’t find any boring parts, except for a few, which didn’t bother me. Sometimes I would get a bit confused, but when I read the paragraph again, it was better. I didn’t find any funny bits throughout this book, because it was very serious right from the start. As I read the book, I could clearly imagine every bit of it, although sometimes the picture would just disappear from my mind. I recommend this book for all children who like reading mystery or ghost type stories. Overall I would give this book rating of 8/10.

There are millions of doors in this world. Each door has its own personality, its own shape, colour, and size. Most people think a door is just a door, but it’s not.A door holds different opportunities for different people.Everyday there is a new door waiting for a person. You never know what there is behind a door, until you open it and see what’s behind it.Some doors have good things behind them,And some doors have bad things behind them.If you go to one doorAnd it’s locked,You go to another one.If that door is also locked, you go to another one. You keep trying until you find a door that is open. Finally you find one. There is only one word you can think of.Paradise!
