Yesterday my mum, dad, little brother and I went Ten Pin Bowling. I got four tickets from my teacher. I decided to get these because a while ago my little brother had his birthday, so I decided that if we went Ten Pin Bowling, it could be like a bit of a present for him from me. The place we went to was the Bowlevard at Skycity in Hamilton. We arrived there at 12:30pm and left at 1:30pm. The first thing that came to our minds was, that there were a lot people there. First of all we had something to eat, and then we started our game. My little brother won, my mum came second, my dad came third, and I came fourth, which was a shame, but I had lots of fun. When I went with my class last year, I won the Ten Pin Bowling then. There was a clown there who gave out prizes to those who got strikes. Throughout the whole time we were there, I got only one strike, and my little brother got about five. He did really well. After we finished our game, we went into town and did some shopping. Then we came back home. All of us were exhausted by the time we came back hoe. And we are all looking forward to the next time we go Ten Pin Bowling.

On Friday, at 7:15pm, my little brother and I headed down to the Events Centre. We went there to watch a Netball Game. It was Magic against one of the teams in Australia, but I don’t remember the name of the team. The game started at 7:45pm. In the first quarter, Magic got more goals than the Australian team. Later in the game, Australia’s team started to catch up. That’s where it got interesting. When Magic had the ball, the Australian team would intercept one of our players and grab the ball. That’s when they had their chance to score a goal, and they did about 2 times. The same happened when the team from Australia had the ball. Magic scored quite a few then too. At the end of the game, Magic won by about ten or twelve points. When the game was finished we went to the players in the Magic team, and got their autographs. My favourite player is Irene Van Dyk, who also plays in the Silver Ferns, and her position is Goal Shoot. She did extremely well. I really enjoyed the game, and I might even go again some other time.

Swimming Sports! March 16, 2008

On Friday we had our second inter-house sport, which was the Swimming Sports. Usually the house that I’m in (Mangapiko-blue), wins, but unfortunately this year we didn’t. We came third, which isn’t that bad. The winner for this year’s Swimming Sports is Puniu! So congratulations to everyone in Puniu! On the day we had Swimming Sports we had to do our chants, and by the end of the day I nearly lost my voice! But I go it back. It was also my first time at being House Captain at an inter-house event. It was great!

At the end of all of the races, we had our house relays, which was a close competition between the four houses. In the last relay for the day, which were the Year 8 girls, Mangapiko nearly made it, but we came second. Overall we came third. But I’m happy, because everyone in our house tried their best, and this is what really counts! I am also, really looking forward to our next inter-house sport, the Summer Games. Hopefully Mangapiko wins this!
