Guess what! Yesterday morning we had our assembly, and they announced the results for House Captains and Class Councillors. Did I get Class Councillor? No, but Sarah got it, so Congratulations Sarah, I’m sure you’ll do a great job. Finally they announced the results for House Captains. The first House Captains they announced were for Mangapiko House, which I am in. The names came out, the House Captains for Mangapiko House for 2008 are…………

Patrick and Naveen. I was so happy, and I’m sure Patrick was too!!! I am sure I will do a great job as House Captain for Mangapiko House 2008. Patrick and I got a blue coloured badge each, which says Te Awamutu Intermediate House Captain 2008. The House Captains for Waipa House were announced next. They are Milly and Reed, and Congratulations to them! They both received red badges which said the same thing as mine and Patrick’s. Next was Waikato. Winiata and Cherie got House Captains for their house, along with yellow badges. Last but not least was Puniu. My best friend Jamie got House Captain, so congratulations to her as well as Sean who also got House Captain for Puniu house. Puniu’s House Colour is green.

So far Mangapiko is winning, and that’s mine and Patrick’s house, so I hope Mangapiko House can win this year! We came second last year. Once again congratulations to everyone who got House Captain, also to our Class Councillor (for room 3).

I look forward to writing my next post.

Last Friday we had our first inter house sport competition, which was the Minor Games. I was the leader of my team, because I am going for House Captain. There were four games we had to play. Firstly we played Hash Cricket, then we played Danish Rounders, Scatterball, and then Longball. My favourite of all would have to be Hash Cricket or Danish Rounders. On Wednesday we found out the results, and guess what? Mangapiko House won, and I’m in Mangapiko House! It was so great! Everyone in our house was jumping up and down. All of us were so happy. But it’s only the first inter-house sports competition, you never know, the other houses could catch up. Last year Waikato House won overall and Mangapiko House came 2nd, which wasn’t too bad either. Hopefully this year Mangapiko House will win. Anyway everyone played great out there and good luck Mangapiko! Hope we win!

I’m really excited about this year, because I get to have a go at being House Captain and Student Councillor. Now I don’t mind what one I get, that is if I get one, because as long as a have one of those jobs I’ll be happy. That’s all I have to say for now. See you next time!

Our trip to Mt Maunganui Beach February 4, 2008

Last week my family and I went to Mt Maunganui Beach. At first we were going to go to Raglan Beach because usually go there, but this time we decided to go somewhere else. Mt Maunganui beach was great! It had huge waves, the sun was out, and we had lots of fun! We had Burger King, and Fish ‘n’ Chips for lunch, which made us all feel bloated. The sand there was so hot, that our feet felt like they were burning. One of our major concerns when we got there, was that there was no place to get changed. Finally after waiting for a very long time, we found a place where you kind of went underground, but it wasn’t underground. So we all quickly got changed, and headed for the cold, salty water. Once we got in, the water was really warm. At one time while we were there, there was a HUGE wave, and I mean it, it was HUGE! It went over me, and suddenly I froze……………..

I thought I was going to die! I was so scared. I tried my hardest to get out of the wave, and finally I managed my way out. At other times, I got all the salty water into my eyes, and they were stinging for a long time. My eyes went red and stayed like that the whole day. On the way back home, nearly all of us fell asleep. We all had a great day, except for that big wave that came over me.

Can you believe it!? Sir Edmund Hillary passed away early this month. And it was a couple of days after my birthday. I feel so sorry for his friends and family. He was a really great guy. For those of you who don’t know who Sir Edmund Hillary is, he was the first person in the world to climb the tallest mountain in the world, Mt Everest. He also helped thousands of people in Nepal, by building them schools and hospitals. Sir Edmund Hillary is my greatest hero, and is said to be “The greatest son of New Zealand.” Sir Edmund Hillary’s funeral took place in Auckland, but I don’t remember what church it was in. Well I don’t have much more to right so see you next time.
Bye.
